THE WORLD’S BEST WOMAN GOALKEEPER OF THE DECADE 2011-2020 : ALMUTH SCHULT (GERMANY)
The IFFHS has devised an equitable method for determining THE WORLD’S BEST WOMAN GOALKEEPER OF THE DECADE 2011-2020. The IFFHS has taken in consideration the TOP 20 of each yearly ranking of each category concerned and allocated points to each place. So the first placed received 20 points, the second placed 19 points, the third placed 18 points …. And 1 point for the twentieth place. If the annual ranking comprised fewer than 20, no point will be awarded for the unoccupied places .
Adding the points from the individual years provides a World Ranking for the Period 2011 – 2020.
Germany’s Almuth Schult won finally this Ranking due to her regularity (she won one yearly Award in 2014 ex æquo) and also to the retirement in 2016 of Hope Solo, who won the 4 first yearly Awards since 2012 ! The US Legend Goalkeeper finished at the third place of the Decade Ranking, preceeded by Sarah Bouhaddi, the French Goalkeeper of Lyon, winner of 4 yearly Awards also ! Almuth Schult won during this decade with her club VFL Wolfsburg 6 Bundesliga Champions titles and 6 German Cups. With the German National Team , she was winner of the Olympic Games Gold Medal and the UEFA Championsship.
