TUNISIA EQUALS RECORD !

Tunisia equal Iran’s record for consecutive clean sheets

Tunisia, with their another clean sheet vs Namibia (3-0) on 13 October, have gone 12 consecutive matches without conceding a goal in World Cup qualifying.
This figure is made up of last 2 qualifiers on the road to World Cup 2022 and all 10 in the current qualifying campaign.
Thus, “Eagles of Carthage” equaled the world record held by Iran that also had a similar series of 12 clean sheets between 2015 and 2017 (all inside the same campaign for World Cup 2018).
Tunisia have last conceded in a World Cup qualifier on 16 November 2021 (3-1 vs Zambia). Their series remains open, so they can beat Iran’s record if they manage to avoid conceding in the next edition’s starting qualifier.

*Ivory Coast are another team who finished the the current campaign without conceded goals (also 10 games). Their ongoing streak makes just these 10 games as they conceded in their last qualifier for the 2022 edition.

*The two named African nations, Tunisia and Ivory Coast, became the first ever in the entire history of World Cup qualifying to complete a qualifying phase (with more than 6 matches played) without conceding a single goal.

*They also best the previous record of South Korea who were the only team that haven't conceded in their first 9 matches of World Cup qualifying  (on the road to the 1990 World Cup).
