Rondón: La Liga’s longest scoring gap after WW2

On 30 September, Salomón Rondón a remarkable goal in La Liga for Oviedo in away game vs Valencia (2-1). It was his first goal after return in the Spanish top flight where he performed last in 2012 for Málaga.
Rondón’s gap between two consecutive goals in La Liga made 13 years 140 days. It is the 3rd longest gap of this kind in the competition’s history, and the longest in the post-WW2 era.
Two players of ancient times, Ángel Zubieta and Salvador Artigas, had longer gaps between their consecutive goals, more than 17 and 16 years. But their careers were strongly affected by Civil War in Spain and then the World War which have just caused such a long break. Details are in the table.
Besides. the goal of 36-year Venezuelan forward helped Oviedo to make some notable achievement for the club’s history. This dramatical victory (Oviedo turned the game around from 0-1 to 2-1 in just 50 seconds in the final stage) marked their first away win in the top flight of Spanish football in 37 years.
