THE BIGGEST HOME LOSS

Santos’ and Neymar's heaviest defeat

The Santos' 0-6 home defeat to Vasco da Gama on 17 August became their new biggest home loss in the Brazilian Serie A and joint-biggest in the competition overall (in away games, they suffered few defeats with a 6-goal margin).
In the history of Brazilian top flight, there was only one game that ended with a bigger loss of the home team: Bahia succumbed 0-7 to Cruzeiro in 2003.
Personally for Santos' most prominent player and captain Neymar, this defeat is the biggest in his career. Previously, two his heaviest losses he ever suffered were the 0-4 by Santos against Barcelona in the 2011 Club World Cup final and the 0-4 by Barcelona against PSG in the 2016-17 Champions League.
Also, for the first time Neymar has conceded with his team so many goals (6). The previous maximum was 5. In 2011, in the Brasileirão, Neymar's Santos conceded 5 goals, to Flamengo at Vila Belmiro, but they weren't thrashed – they lost 4-5, in a match in which the striker scored a stunning goal that earned him the Puskas Award.
