IFFHS CONTINENTAL STATS - CHAN DAY 8

Clement Frances Mzize, superstar!

The 21-year old forward of Tanzania clubside, Young Africans SC, is the first player to score a brace in the on-going CHAN 2024. He achieved the feat Saturday banging home in the 13th and 20th minutes of their group game against a determined Madagascar team at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam. The two goals would later earn him the Mvp award. One would say that game was entirely played in the first half as the 2/1 win by Tanzania, their third victory in three games and the only side to do so yet in the tournament also registered a one-goal reply from the hard fighting Madagascar. The latter got their lone goal in the 34th minute following an assist from  Fenohasina Razafimaro  serving  Nantenaina Mika for the finisher. The match, the 16th in the tournament certainly gave fans full value for their physical and financial effort to be in attendance.

In an earlier game in the same setting Mauritania edged the Central Africa Republic 1/0 making it their fourth victory against the same team in as many encounters. FC TEVRAG ZEINA's forward, Ahmed Ahmed got the 9th minute curtain raiser for his side to put the match out of reach for the Central Africa Republic. From then tactical modifications by the coaches, Lopez Garay Aritz of Mauritania and Sébastien Ngato of Central Africa did little to make any change in the physiognomy of the game. While Mauritania can heave a sigh of relief, the second straight defeat for Central Africa means their lifespan in the tournament is far from durable.

Morocco vs Zambia and DR Congo vs Angola are on bill this Sunday.
