Burkina Faso make up for debut defeat with 4/2 win.

The setting was the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam where an empty stadium welcomed them alongside victims, Central Africa Republic. The sluggish debut was given life ten minutes into play with the opener through Burkinabe Papus Ouattara. The shortlived lead was negated through a sumptuous free kick by Sydney Tchibanda four minutes later. The goal was not only celebrated for its beauty but also as that country's first-ever CHAN goal. Burkina Faso would push on a 2-1 lead  early into the second half following VAR check that gave them the 57th minute penalty. Abdul Abbas was the scorer. Yet a 78th minute penalty by the same scorer would carry tally to 3/1. And then Patrick Bihetoue made it 4/1 before a late goal by Angie Zoumara closed deliberations on 4/2. Burkinabe player Josaphat Ouattara earned the Mvp award.

A second game with the stadium full to capacity pitted hosts, Tanzania against Mauritania. A flurry of missed opportunities characterized the encounter as each side fought the other to a standstill. In fact Tanzania keeper Hussein  Masalanga did in earnest prevent the hosts from suffering a defeat until an 89th minute goal through Shomari Kapombe with a Selemani Iddi assist landed them a 1/0 victory. Tanzania player Mudathiri Yahya took home the Mvp trophy.

This Thursday two games on schedule will be: DR Congo vs Zambia and Angola vs Kenya.
