Benfica vs Bayern 1-0 (Group C)


*Benfica (picture) have defeated Bayern for the first time in the 14th match between the teams in international competitions (10 Bayern wins and 3 draws in 13 previous games). 

*This is Bayern Munich's first ever defeat in any intercontinental competitions (Intercontinental Cup and the Club World Cup). They had 8 wins and 1 draw in 9 games before.

Auckland City vs Boca Juniors 1-1 (Group C)

*Boca Juniors became the first South American team eliminated from the 2025 Club World Cup.

*Auckland City have stopped their run of 8 consecutive defeats in Club World Cups (including 2 in this edition).
They hadn't scored in CWC since the draw against Cruz Azul (1-1) on 20 December 2014 when they won on shootout and finished third.

*Boca Juniors broke the record for shots in a first half (19) of this Club World Cup, but only 3 of those 19 were on target.
In the first half against Auckland City, Bayern had 15 shots (9 on target, 6 goals) and Benfica 18 shots (8 on target, 1 goal).

*Nathan Garrow (Auckland City) became the first goalkeeper in history to score an own goal at a Club World Cup.
It took 36 years to see the first own goal by a goalkeeper in the World Cup for nations: Antonio Roma (Argentina), against Spain in 1966.

*Denis Bouanga (Los Angeles) became the first Gabonese goal-scorer in the Club World Cup history.

*With this Los Angeles's goal, Al-Ain remain the only team among 32 participants that still haven’t scored at the 2025 Club World Cup.

*This match did not shake the balance between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF in FIFA club tournaments in last decade: 2 win for each side and 4 draws in 8 games.

Esperance vs Chelsea 0-3 (Group D)

*With this Chelsea’s win, European clubs have won 9 of their 10 matches against African teams in FIFA tournaments (also 1 draw).

*Chelsea haven’t allowed a single shot in the box; for the first time in all competitions in 3 years (since May 2022 vs Leicester).
