Copa Libertadores statistics: group stage, match-day 6 (28-30 May)
São Paulo vs Talleres Córdoba 2-1
São Paulo have reached the mark of 15 games without defeat in the Copa Libertadores: their longest undefeated sequence and the 7th highest in the history of the tournament since 1960.
They are now 3 games shy of the record: 18-game streak without defeat, achieved by Palmeiras and Atlético Mineiro, both in 2022.
Libertad vs Alianza Lima 2-2
*After 12 years of break, a Peruvian team (Alianza) is again in the round of 16 of Copa Libertadores.
*For the first time in the history of Copa Libertadores, 2 players over 40 years old scored for each team in a match: Oscar Cardozo for Libertad (42) and Paolo Guerrero for Alianza Lima (41).
Earlier this edition, it has already happened that two players aged 40+ scored in same game – but they did it for same team (for Alianza Lima vs Talleres Córdoba with Barco and Guerrero).
Bolívar vs Cerro Porteño 4-0
*Bolívar equaled the biggest victory by a Bolivian team against a Paraguayan club in the Copa Libertadores; curiously, it was also Bolívar against Cerro Porteño game, on 3 May 2023, but in Asunción.
*Bolívar have scored already 6 goals from outside the box in the current edition of the Copa Libertadores, twice as many as any other team in the competition.
LDU Quito vs Central Córdoba 3-0
*This is Central Córdoba's first ever defeat in the Copa Libertadores (they debutted in the competition this year).
*They have finished the group stage being eliminated with 11 points. They are just the 2nd team in the history of the competition to be eliminated with so many points, after Audax Italiano in 2007.
For the 4th time, LDU Quito beat an Argentine team in the Copa Libertadores with a 3+ goals margin, following 6-1 win over Arsenal in 2008, 3-0 over Independiente in 2011 and 3-0 over River Plate in 2020.
Palmeiras vs Sporting Cristal 6-0
*Palmeiras is the 5th team to win all 6 Copa Libertadores group stage matches, following Vasco da Gama in 2001, Santos in 2007, Boca Juniors in 2015 and Palmeiras themselves in 2022.
*Palmeiras won a Copa Libertadores match 6-0 for the 2nd time, and again vs a Peruvian club. The previous case was on 27 May 2021, against Universitario.
*It is Sporting Cristal's worst defeat in Copa Libertadores.
Nacional vs Atlético Nacional 1-0
*It is the first ever Atlético Nacional’s loss against Nacional (2 wins and 3 draws in 5 previous games). They have also perfect history vs Peñarol (6 wins in 6 games) in the Copa Libertadores.
The only Uruguayan team before that managed to beat them in the competition was Defensor Sporting (twice in 2014).
Racing vs Fortaleza 1-0
*Racing's great run against Brazilian teams goes on: 6 consecutive victories in CONMEBOL tournaments.
*Adrián Martínez's goal (at 93 minutes 29 seconds) is the latest winning goal in Racing's history in the Copa Libertadores. It surpasses Brian Fernández's goal on 90'+1' minute against Deportivo Táchira on 14 April 2015.
*Adrián Martínez became Racing's joint all-time best international scorer (15 goals), level with Norberto Raffo.
Peñarol vs Vélez Sársfield 0-0
*Peñarol have now gone 22 consecutive home games without losing in the Copa Libertadores, a streak that began after their last home defeat, 2-3 against Palmeiras on 26 April 2017.
Olimpia Asunción vs San Antonio Bulo Bulo 4-0
*Olimpia's second-worst winless streak in the history of the Copa Libertadores (7 matches) has ended.
*Olimpia scored three goals in space of 4 minutes (from 52nd to 56th): their fastest such feat in the Copa Libertadores. The closest was on 21 February 1995, when they scored three goals in 7 minutes against Caracas (from 60th to 67th).
