Goal Scorers with most 40+ goal years in XXI century

For the first time we publish a ranking that lists all scorers who have notched 40+ top-level goals in a calendar year more than once in the XXI century. 
There are currently 28 such players in total.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 54 goals last year took the number of such years in his career to 12. 
He equaled Leo Messi, who also scored 40 goals in a year 12 times (failing though to do so in 2023).
