ERLING HAALAND WRITES ALREADY HISTORY !
Haaland rewrites history in Man City
With a hat-trick scored in the FA Cup quarterfinal vs Burnley (6-0), Erling Haaland became the first ever Manchester City to score 40+ goals in all competitions within one season.
The former club record stood almost a century. It belonged to Tommy Johnson (38 goals in 1928-29). Haaland is at 42 now.
In the table below, the top 10 of Manchester City best seasonal personal goal tallies (Derek Kevan’s and Shaun Goater’s ones are off-ranking since they came in the seasons when the club featured in 2nd tier).
Sergio Agüero, all-time best goal-scorer in the club history, occupies 3 positions in top 10.
*Haaland has scored more hat-tricks in all competitions this season (6) than all other Premier League players combined (5 – one for Mohamed Salah, Ivan Toney, Son Heung-min, Phil Foden, Leandro Trossard).
*All 6 his hat-tricks, Haaland has scored at home stadium Etihad.
*Haaland become the 6th player in the English Premier League history to score 40+ goals in all competitions in a single season, being already very close to the record of 44 goals shared by Ruud van Nistelrooy (2002-03) and Mohamed Salah (2017-18).
*Among players from Europe's top-5 leagues, Haaland has scored three times more hat-tricks this season (6) than any other player (Kylian Mbappé, Wissam Ben Yedder, Loïs Openda have 2 each).
Courtesy of Haaland, Manchester City achieved biggest win in a FA Cup quarter-final match over last 56 years. No team has won such a FA Cup quarter-final by 6+ goals difference since 12 April 1967 (Tottenham vs Birmingham City 6-0).
