*Franz Beckenbauer and Mário Zagallo have held 32 games each at World Cups as players and head coaches in total. They are joint record holders of the competition in this category.

*They two won the World Cups in both qualities: Beckenbauer in 1974 as a player, in 1990 as a head coach of Germany, Zagallo in 1958, 1962 as a player, in 1970 as a head coach of Brazil.
Apart from them, Didier Deschamps achieved the same with France in 1998 (player) and 2018 (coach).
