WORLD CUP RECORDS (Part 5) - GOALKEEPERS WITH MOST CLEAN SHEETS

Picture : Fabien Barthez (picture up) and Peter Shilton (picture down) are the Record co-holders !

Most clean sheets: Peter Shilton and Fabien Barthez

*Peter Shilton set in 1990 the current World Cup record among goalkeepers on number of clean sheets. He avoided conceding goals in 4 games at 1982 edition, 3 at 1986 and as many at 1990.
Fabien Barthez equaled his number in 2006. Now they two are co-holders of the clean sheet record.

*Jan Jongbloed takes third position in the ranking with 8 clean sheets (being placed higher than other goalkeepers with the same number due to tie-breaker: fewer games at World Cups; he has just 11).
In one of his games, on 21 June 1978 vs Italy (2-1), Jongbloed conceded none as he entered as a substitute for Piet Schrijvers on 21st minute after the Netherlands had already conceded a goal). This game also is included to Jongbloed’s tally.

*Manuel Neuer (Germany) has maximal number of clean sheets (7) among goalkeepers expected to feature in Qatar. He has quite realistic chance to equal or even beat the record.
