Francisco Gento, a Legend

The Real Madrid legend Francisco Gento has died at the age of 88 on January 18.
He was a part of Madrid club from 1953 to 1971. In total, he has played 600 matches for the team and scored 182 goals.
Nicknamed La Galerna del Cantábrico (“The Gale of the Cantabrian Sea”), after his native province Cantabria, he has won 12 times the Spanish championship 12 times, twice the Spanish Cup, once the Intercontinental Cup and is still the only player in the world to win 6 times the Champions’ Cup (League).
In total, Gento won 23 trophies with Madrid, what is a club record. Marcelo caught up with him this week in terms of the number of titles.
After Di Stéfano’s death in 2014, Gento became honorary president of Real Madrid.
