WORLD CUP QUALIFICATIONS EUROPE - Statistics 1 and 2 September 2021

*After tying with Bulgaria (1-1), Italy became the 3rd team to record a 35-match unbeaten run, longest ever in men's international football, after Brazil (1993-1996) and Spain (2007-2009).

*Spain lost (1-2 vs Sweden) their first World Cup qualifier since 1993 (when they were defeated 0-1 by Denmark). Spain were unbeaten in 66 consecutive World Cup qualifiers: incredible run finally ended.

*Also, Spain have lost a match in which they had an advantage on the scoreboard for the first time in all their history of the qualifiers for the World Cup.

*Germany won 15th World Cup qualifying away game in a row (2-0 vs Liechtenstein). The Bundesteam win all away qualifiers since 3-3 draw against Finland in Helsinki on 10 September 2008.

*Hungary's 0-4 loss to England is their largest ever home defeat in a World Cup qualifier and also their biggest home defeat overall since 0-4 loss against Netherlands in Euro qualifier in March 2011.

*Harry Kane (England) has scored in each of his last 13 Euro and World Cup qualifying matches for England (17 goals total in these games).

*The victory over San Marino (2-0) became Andorra's only 2nd World Cup qualifier in which they scored more than one goal, after 2-3 loss against Cyprus in September 2000.

*Arsen Zakharyan became the youngest ever outfield player and 2nd youngest overall in the history of the Russian national team. He debutted in the game vs Croatia (0-0) at the age of 18 years 98 days. Only the goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev made his debut in 2004 at younger age (18 years 20 days).
