Hanan El-Zainy, triple female FIFA club World Cup participant.
Women are known to be habitual attendants at huge football events of their gender. But the Egyptian singleton, Hanan Wafeeq El-Zainy Awad has gone farther by keeping the distinction of the first woman to participate in three editions of the FIFA club World Cup with the same African team. She attended Japan 2012, Morocco 2013 and Qatar 2020 as delegate with African representatives at the tournaments, Al-Ahly Sporting Club of Egypt.
Born on 25 January, 1976 in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, the current Director of Regulations and Club Licensing at Al-Ahly keeps a tall profile that portrays her as an insider in football matters. She graduated from the Saudi College of Girls Education to capture degrees variably in English Literature, Interior Design and ICT from institutions in Pennsylvania and Nasr City.
A batch of fellowships at FIFA and certifications from CAF and other well-known destinations only add to the credentials of the English teacher and proficient database developer whose interests include reading literature on religion, politics, history and human resources.
AFCON Draw presenters, stadia designated .
The event managers have announced the names of the presenters for next Tuesday’s Final Draw of the CAF TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021, as well as the stadia to host the matches of the tournament. The duo comprise a celebrated Cameroonian tv talk show presenter and manager of a local regional radio station, Léonard Chatelain and Nigerian sports presenter, Mimi Fawaz. However, those who will watch the event on the State-owned broadcaster, Cameroon Radio Television, will see journalists, Albert Njie Mbonde and Eveline Owona Essomba in a buildup to the event before they usher in Mimi who had co-presented the 2016 CAF Awards in Nigeria in 2017 and her Cameroonian counterpart for the main event beginning at 18H GMT on Tuesday, 17 August, 2021.
Ahead of the draw, the six stadia and eighteen training fields retained for the tournament have been chosen. The stadia include: Paul Biya All Sports Stadium, Olembe, Yaounde; Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Mfandena, Yaounde; Japoma Sports Stadium, Douala; Limbe Omnisports Stadium; Bafoussam Omnisports Stadium; and Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua. Significantly absent from the roll call is the Bepanda Reunification Stadium, Douala.
Professional League President to challenge latest CAS ruling .
The dismissed president of the Cameroon Professional Football League, Retired General Pierre Semengue has vowed to challenge the most recent ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport which confirms the dissolution of the league by the football federation. He intends to do that in a Swiss court following what he describes as an illogical verdict handed down yesterday by CAS in response to an earlier appeal by him.
Meanwhile, the federation has forwarded the names of the two clubs to take part in next year’s African Confederations clubs competitions. Fovu Club of Baham will play in the Champions League and Coton Sport of Garoua will play in the CAF Cup. Both clubs were chosen based on the league standings on the deadline given by CAF for the names of the various continental representatives to reach its headquarters. Furthermore, the country’s representatives in the CAF Cup for the 2022/23 season will be the winners of the imminent Cup of Cameroon final to pit PWD Bamenda against Les Astres of Douala.
