IFFHS EURO STATISTICS 23 - LONGEST SERIE OF CONSECUTIVE GAMES

Picture : Gianluigi Buffon (2004 to 2016) holds the record with 17 consecutive games in the final tournaments

Longest series of consecutive games (final stages): Gianluigi Buffon

Since 2004 to 2016, Gianluigi Buffon has played 17 consecutive games of his team (Italy) on final tournaments of European championships. This is longest series in the history of the competition so far.

This record can be beaten in upcoming edition. Two players who will almost probably play in Euro 2020 –  Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo – have now series of 13 consecutive games played for their countries. If at least one of the national teams ( Spain, Portugal) reaches the quarterfinal stage, and the player in consideration doesn’t miss any game, it will mean an appearance of new record holder.
