For the World Goal Scorer of the 1st Decade (2001-2010) only international goals scored in the following competitions and matches were taken into consideration:

-       all full “A” internationals

-       Olympic final tournament

-       FIFA Club World Cup

-       continental club competitions of the UEFA, CONMEBOL, CONCACAF, AFC, CAF and OFC

-       continental Super Cup matches of the six confederations

-       official matches between the topical continental club champions

The World Goal Scorer of the 1st Decade corresponds to almost a combination of the annual World Goalgetter for the years from 2001 to 2010.

The “Top 25” consists of 18 European, four South Americans, three Africans and a Central American.

These “Top 25” makes visible, who were the most successful international goalgetters of the 1st Decade of the individual continents - presupposed that they are placed in the higher part of

the World Ranking.                                                                                  

Ruud Van Nisterooyi has scored the most goals in the World, one goal more than Thierry Henry and 3 more than Didier Drogba !

In this decade, Van Nistelrooyi (2002), Thierry Henry (2003), and Adriano (2005) have won the IFFHS Annual Award and Raul (1999) won it in the last decade. Miroslav Klose has scored the most international goals with his country and Ruud Van Nistelrooij the most goals with his clubs.
