DANILO'S RECORDS
Two records for Danilo
Danilo Luiz da Silva became the first player in the history to be crowned as multiple club champion both in Europe and in South America.
He won twice the Champions League (with Real Madrid in 2016 and 2017), and now also twice the Copa Libertadores (with Santos in 2011 and with Flamengo in 2025).
Apart from this unique achievement, Danilo scored the only and winning goal of Flamengo – what made him a record holder in yet another category.
Previously, he scored also in the Copa Libertadores final for Santos, on 22 June 2011.
Between his two goals in the finals, 14 years and 160 days passed what is the longest span for any player scoring in different Copa Libertadores finals.
Pedro Rocha was the record holder in this before: between his first goal (on 12 April 1965 with Peñarol) and his last (on 12 October 1974 with São Paulo) 9 years and 185 days elapsed.
Remarkably, in the space between his mentioned goals in the finals of 2011 and 2025, Danilo didn’t score in Copa Libertadores at all.
*Danilo became just the third Flamengo player to score in the Copa Libertadores finals. The previous 8 such goals in the club’s history were shared by Zico (4) and Gabriel Barbosa (4).
*12 of the last 15 goals in Copa Libertadores finals have been scored by Brazilian players.
*Another Flamengo player, Jorginho, became the 15th member of the “Сlub”, which unites players who have won the Champions League (with Chelsea in 2021) and the Copa Libertadores.
