Copa Libertadores statistics: Semifinals, 2nd leg (30-31 October)

Racing vs Flamengo 0-0 (agg 0-1)

*On 29 October 2022, Filipe Luis won the Copa Libertadores as a Flamengo’s player. Now, 3 years later, as a coach, he has led the club to the final of the competition again.

*Flamengo will play their 4th final within 7 last Copa Libertadores editions (after 2019, 2021 and 2022).

*Since 2019, there has always been at least one Brazilian team in the final of South America's premier club competition.
This is 3rd longest run of consecutive years (7) with the same country in the Copa Libertadores final in the competition’s history, behind only:
Argentina’s 17 years from 1963 to 1979,
Brazil’s 9 years from 2005 to 2013.

*In the meantime, Argentine teams extend to 7 years their period without winning the Copa Libertadores (since the River Plate’s success in 2018).
This is the Argentina’s joint-longest drought without a title in the competition, along with 7 consecutive years between the wins of 1986 (River Plate) and 1994 (Vélez Sarsfield).

*Brazil have now won 18 of the last 21 knockout ties in Copa Libertadores against teams from Argentina.

*Racing remain the club with longest wait for a new Copa Libertadores final (58 years since their only final in 1967).

*Flamengo’s goalkeeper Agustín Rossi has recorded 8 clean sheets in 12 matches played in the Copa Libertadores 2025.
Only Franco Armani (9 for River Plate in 2016) and Mariano Andújar (9 for Estudiantes in 2022) have had more clean sheets in a single edition of the competition in the last decade.

*Flamengo’s Gonzalo Plata became the first player sent off in both the quarterfinals and semifinals of the same Copa Libertadores edition since 2017, when Jonathan Álvez (Barcelona Guayaquil) received a red card against Santos in the quarterfinals and then against Grêmio in the semifinals.

Palmeiras vs LDU Quito 4-0 (agg 4-3)

*Palmeiras became the first Brazilian team to overturn a two-legged tie after losing the first leg by 3+ goals in all CONMEBOL competitions.

*Palmeiras became the 6th team that came back to win a Copa Libertadores knock-out stage tie after losing the first leg by 3+ goals. And the first to do so in the semifinals; the previous such teams achieved this feat in the round of 16 or quarterfinals.

*Palmeiras will play in their 7th final in Copa Libertadores.

*Raphael Veiga is the third player to score two goals after coming off the bench in a Copa Libertadores semifinal, following:
Humberto Tozzi, also for Palmeiras, vs Independiente Santa Fe (4-1) in 1961,
Darío Benedetto for Boca Juniors against Palmeiras (2-0) in 2018.

*Palmeiras’ coach Abel Ferreira reached his 3rd Copa Libertadores final; only 4 coaches have reached more: Luiz Felipe Scolari (4), Luis Cubilla (4), Roberto Scarone (4), and Carlos Bianchi (5).

*Gustavo Gómez (Palmeiras) became the player with the most appearances in Copa Libertadores semifinals (12) since the knockout format was reinstated in 1988, surpassing Ignacio Fernández (11).

*Of the last ten Copa Libertadores finalists, 9(!) are Brazilian teams. The only exception is Boca Juniors in the 2023 edition.
