Copa Libertadores statistics: Semifinals, 1st leg (23-24 October)

Flamengo vs Racing 1-0

*Racing's run of 6 wins against Brazilian teams in CONMEBOL competitions has ended.

*Racing goalkeeper Facundo Cambeses has conceded his just 2nd goal in the last 10 matches across all competitions (another one came vs River Plate in domestic league).

*Flamengo’s Giorgian de Arrascaeta won his 56th game in Copa Libertadores history having equalled with Marcos Rocha as players with joint-most victories among outfielders in the competition history.

*Flamengo have advanced 7 of the 9 two-legged Copa Libertadores knockout ties after winning the first leg at home.
They were only eliminated in such cases by Boca Juniors in 1991 and Olimpia in 2023.

*Racing have managed to come from behind in 3 of the 5 two-legged knockout ties in Copa Libertadores after losing the first leg away from home: against Peñarol in 1997 and 2025, and against Atlético Nacional in 2023.

LDU Quito vs Palmeiras 3-0

*It is historical joint-biggest defeat by a Brazilian team against a foreign team in Copa Libertadores on the stage of semifinals and finals.
The only precedent: Boca Juniors vs Grêmio 3-0 on 13 June 2007 (first leg of the final).

*For the 4th time, an Ecuadorian team has scored 3+ goals against a Brazilian opponent in Copa Libertadores knockout matches; in 2 of 3 previous cases it was achieved just by LDU Quito:
4-2 vs Santos on 5 May 2004 (Round of 16),
4-2 vs Fluminense on 25 June 2008 (Final).
The remaining case is Barcelona Guayaquil’s 3-0 win over Corinthians on 5 March 2025 (3rd Qualifying Round).

*LDU Quito is the first ever team to score 3 goals against Palmeiras in the first half in a Copa Libertadores match.

*Gabriel Villamíl is the first player to score a brace in the first half of a Copa Libertadores semifinal since Bruno Henrique, who did so on 22 September 2021, for Flamengo against Barcelona Guayaquil.

*Villamíl became just the second Bolivian player to score in a Copa Libertadores semifinal, following Gerardo Yecerotte who scored for Bolívar against San Lorenzo on 30 July 2014.

*Liga de Quito have won the first leg of a Copa Libertadores knockout tie at home by 3+ goals twice before: against Peñarol in 2005 and Atlético Nacional in 2006. In both cases, they have advanced.

*Only 5 two-legged knockout round matches have been overturned in the Copa Libertadores history after a 3+ goal deficit in the first leg.
This feat was achieved by:
Sporting Cristal (Peru) vs El Nacional (Ecuador) in 1993,
Cerro Porteño (Paraguay) vs Estudiantes Mérida (Venezuela) in 1999,
Bolívar (Bolivia) vs Nacional (Uruguay) in 2000,
Universidad de Chile (Chile) vs Deportivo Quito (Ecuador) in 2012,
River Plate (Argentina) vs Jorge Wilstermann (Bolivia) in 2017.
No Brazilian team has yet managed to do such a comeback.
