Egypt set new African record
In the last international window, Egypt set a new continental record for longest run of games with scoring goals.
A World Cup qualifier vs Ethiopia (2-0) on 5 September became the 34th and last game in this epic streak that ended four days later in the next goal-less Egypt’s qualifier vs Burkina Faso.
No one African nation was able to go 34 games in a row scoring in each. The previous highest mark was 33 games, achieved by DR Congo in 1979-1984 and Ivory Coast in 2012-2014.
