VALLADOLID'S NEGATIVE RECORD

Valladolid’s negative records in La Liga under Ronaldo

Valladolid, with just 1 point gained out of a possible 57 in the second half of the season 2024-25, have had the worst ever half-season record in the history of La Liga.
They drawn one and lost 18 in this period of the season. The previous lowest mark was Córdoba’s 2 points earned in the second half of the 2014-2015. (Arenas de Getxo in 1934-35 also earned only 2 points in the second half of the season, but it consisted then of 11 matches, not of 19 as in modern era).
Valladolid became also the team with the most losses in a single season (30 in 38 games). The previous La Liga’s record was held by Sporting Gijón in the 1997-98 season with 29 defeats.
And they suffered 12 consecutive defeats, surpassing the 11 recorded by Las Palmas in the 1959-60 season.
All these numbers say that Valladolid held the worst season in the history of any team in La Liga. Maybe even the worst in all 5 top European leagues.
Regading the number of defeats, the “Blanquivioleta” can be matched with 4 teams in the long history of the English top flight that suffered 30+ defeats in a season: Stoke City (31 in 42 games, 1984-85), Blackburn (30 in 42, 1965-66), Leeds (30 in 42, 1946-47) and the newest case of Southampton (30 in 38, 2024-25).
The man that should bear responsibility for such a failure is no one else as Ronaldo Nazário who was until recently the majority shareholder and owner of Valladolid.
Another curiousity: Valladolid have suffered the most relegations in La Liga in XXI century: six, three of them under Ronaldo in the last five seasons. The next are Levante with four relegations and Betis with three.
