Iceland – Finland 0-1
- The first match of the Euro in Switzerland was won by Finland, who secure their first victory at the final competition since 2009 !
- Katerina Kosola, who played in Malmoe (Sweden), was the goalscorer and also the woman of the game.
- Iceland suffered with captain Glodis Viggosdottir, who was forced off injured at the half time and also with the red card for Hildur Antonsdottir at the 58th minute.
- Iceland conceded a ninth defeat from 14 matches at the Euro finals and won only one of their 12 last games.
- Finland’s second goalkeeper Tinja-Rikka Korpela , on the bench , is the oldest player of the UEFA Euro 2025 with 39 years old.
- Natalia Kuikka celebrated her 100th international cap with Finland .
- FC Barcelona (18 players) is the most represented in the Euro before FC Bayern München (16), who presented 3 players in the Iceland team (Glodis Viggosdottir, Cecilia Runarsdottir and Karolina Vihljalmsdottir).
- Linda Sallstrom (36) is always so important in Finland’s team, scorind already 3 goals in 2025 and being the playmaker of Finland.
Switzerland – Norway 1-2
- Record crowd in Basel for a women’s football game with 34 068 spectators !
- Sydney Schertenleib, one of the swiss greatest young talents with Alayah Pilgrim, Smilla Vallotto, Noemi Ivelj, Riola Xhemaili and Iman Beney, is the youngest player of the Euro 2025 with 18 years old !
- Norway won the game with the 50th international goal of Ada Hegerberg, the first woman BALLON D’OR in the History, in her 93th international cap. She has now scored 335 goals in 356 games !
- Pia Sundhage was the national coach of USA, Sweden and Brazil before taking over the swiss team last year. She composed an excellent team with experience and young talents.
- Norway won already the UEFA Euro in 1987 and 1993, qualifying for the Euro final tournament 13 times !
- Smilla Vallotto played with Switzerland, but has also the norwegian nationalty, living many years in Norway. It was a special game for her.
- Geraldine Reuteler and Nadine Riesen play together in Frankfurt (Germany) and also in the swiss national team where they are very impressive.
