SENEGAL IN HISTORY

SENEGAL MAKE HISTORY IN ENGLAND FRIENDLY.
They became the first African side to defeat England in 22 attempts by teams from the continent. In their friendly played on Tuesday on the City Ground, Nottingham, coach Pape Thiaw's lions whose last loss was in January 2024 overpowered Thomas Tuchel's The Three Lions 3-1 to sink an indelible mark into the annals of the beautiful game.
Harry Kane's 7th minute opener was rendered impotent with goals by Ismaila Sarr (40'), Habib Diarra (62'), and Cheikh Sabaly (93').
Only twice before have African teams really posed threats to England. In 1990 on the way to the World Cup an 89th minute goal by Tunisia closed their friendly on a 1-1 score. And England barely overpowered Cameroon 3-2 in the 1990 World Cup quarterfinals.
