IFFHS CONTINENTAL NEWS – ¼ FINALS WOMEN’S COPA LIBERTADORES

 

 

-       3 Brazilian clubs will participate at the semi finals tomorrow, the two last winners of the Copa Libertadores Palmeiras (2022) and Corinthians (2019, 2021), and Internacional Porto Alegre.

-       Atlético Nacional Medellin will represent Colombia in the semi final, the only non-brazilian team, facing Palmeiras. The other game will opposite Corinthians and internacional.

-       Palmeiras won his quarter final with a large advance 6-0 against Olimpia Ascuncion, Bia Zanerratto scoring her 4th and 5th goal of the competition (with 4 assists) !

-       Atlético Nacional won the non brazilian game against Universidad Chile 2-1, the winning goal was scored by Yoreli Rincon, a Legend of Colombia’s football, who played in Italy in the last years !

-       Only one Colombian club, Atlético Huila in 2018, won the Copa Libertadores. The same for Chile, Coco Colo in 2012 was the unique winner of the country.

-       Corinthians won sovereign against América Cali, Colombia’s champion. Millene (already 5 goals in the competition) and Victoria Albuquerque showed the way to a new success for Corinthians, also leaders in Brazil’s Serie A and with a 4th clean sheet in 4 games !

-       Internacional Porto Alegre qualified for the semi final, winning 4-2 against Colo Colo. Priscilla (19 years old) scored 3 goals to take the leadership of the Copa Libertadores Goalscorer ranking with 6 goals.
