Gold Cup statistics on semi-finals

*Panama is the only team in the CONCACAF Gold Cup history that has defeated USA in the group stage (in 2011) and has eliminated USA in the direct elimination rounds (2023 semi-final, on shootouts after 1-1 draw).

*USA vs Panama is the most common rivalry in the history of the Gold Cup (they met 12 times) and the first duel that is repeated in 10 different editions of the tournament.

*This game was 30th in Gold Cup history that required an extra-time. USA took part in 11 of these occasions (only Mexico are ahead with 12), Panama in 8.

*Panama failed to score in all their previous 7 extra-times. Iván Anderson became the first their player to do it. It was also his very first goal for the national team.

*Before this Gold Cup edition, the two teams taking part in an extra-time have never scored both. In the 2023 edition, it has happened already twice (USA vs Canada and USA vs Panama).

*Before the game, USA and Panama were just two teams with the most penalty shootouts won in Gold Cup history (4 for each). Now Panama are sole record holders of the tournament with 5 successful shootouts (out of 6).

*Henry Martin (Mexico) has scored in the game vs Jamaica (3-0) the earliest goal in a knock-out game in the whole Gold Cup history.
Martin took 1 minute 21 seconds from kick-off. He surpasses Almoez Ali (Qatar) who scored after 1 minute 34 seconds in 2021 (quarter-final) and Walter Centeno (Costa Rica, after 1 minute 56 seconds in 2002 quarter-final).

*Luis Chávez became the first Mexican player to score from a direct free kick in a Gold Cup game since Rafael García Torres did it (also against Jamaica) in the 2003 quarter-final.

*A goal from a direct free kick had not been seen in the Gold Cup semi-finals since 2017; curiously, in that occasion it was Jamaica (Kemar Lawrence) who scored against Mexico.

*Mexico will play in a Gold Cup final for 11th time and Panama for 3rd (after 2005 and 2013). They are 2nd and 3rd teams on the number of Gold Cup finals (USA holds the record: 12).
