Copa Libertadores: statistics on group stage match-day 6 (27-29 June)

*With the victory over Metropolitanos (1-0), Nacional Montevideo have overcome another group stage of the Copa Libertadores. They have already 37 successful group stages. It is the first club to reach this figure in the history of the competition.

*River Plate (beating The Strongest 2-0) have overcome the group stage of Copa Libertadores for the 9th consecutive time.

*Patronato (Argentina), beating Atlético Nacional away 1-0, became 3rd team in Copa Libertadores history to defeat a former tournament champion while performing in the 2nd national division.
Two precedents are:
Santo André (Brazil) win vs Palmeiras in 2005 (2-1),
Paulista (Brazil) win vs River Plate in 2006 (2-1).
However, Patronato are the first ever team to do it as a visitor.

*Olimpia Asuncion, in the game vs Melgar (4-0), has scored 4 goals in the first halftime of a Copa Libertadores match for the first time in history.

*The penalty, earned by Olimpia in this game after just 9 seconds, is the fastest in the history of Copa Libertadores.
Curiously, 3 of the earliest 4 Copa Libertadores penalty goals have been scored by Olimpia players (Gerardo Núñez in 1963, Harles Bourdier in 1996 and Alejandro Silva in 2023).

*The game vs Libertad (1-1) became 84th in Copa Libertadores for Atletico Mineiro coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. He is now the sole record holder among Brazilian coaches, being ahead of  Renato Gaúcho (83), Muricy Ramalho (79), Vanderlei Luxemburgo (68), Tite (67), Abel Braga (63) and Cuca (63).

*Luiz Adriano (Internacional) became in the game vs Independiente Medellín (3-1) the first player to score a goal with his chest in Copa Libertadores since Marco Ruben did it on 14 March 2019 for Athletico Paranaense against Jorge Wilstermann.

*Luiz Adriano’s brace in this game, scored within 5 minutes 6 seconds, is the fastest double by an Internacional player in the history of Copa Libertadores; he surpassed Paolo Guerrero who scored 2 goals against Universidad Católica on 3 March 2020 within 5 minutes 22 seconds.

*Flamengo, with the 2-0 win over Aucas, have moved further their Copa Libertadores record of best streak of matches scoring. They have 26 such games in a row.

*Pedro (Flamengo) has scored his 19th goal in the Copa Libertadores and entered the top-5 of the highest Brazilian scorers in the competition.

*Kendry Páez (Ecuador), at 16 years 56 days old, is the second youngest footballer to start a match in Copa Libertadores (for Independiente del Valle vs Argentinos Juniors 3-2) during the last decade.
Earlier this year, he became the youngest ever debutant and youngest goal-scorer in the Ecuadorian top flight.
