Victor Osimhen scored a brace in Nigeria’s 2/3 defeat of Sierra Leone in Monrovia, Liberia Sunday to land the three-time Africa champions a visa for next year’s finals of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast 2023. The defeat of already eliminated Sao Tome by visiting Guinea Bissau 0/1 means Nigeria and Guinea Bissau qualify from group A of the qualifiers.
In all, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Tunisia, Zambia join Morocco and hosts, Ivory Coast make the qualified teams. On the flip side of the coin, Botswana, Comoros, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Sao Tome & Principe and South Sudan are already eliminated well ahead of the sixth and final day of qualifiers in September.
