Statistics on Champions’ League group stage round 4 (October 12)

*Club Brugge, Napoli and Bayern are next three teams to gain promotion to the knockout stage of Champions league after 4 matchdays.
Club Brugge are only the second Belgian team in the history of competition to achieve this after Gent in the season of 2015-16. (Anderlecht also progressed from the UCL first group stage in 2000-01 but were eliminated in the second group stage).

*Bayern (with the win vs Viktoria Plzen 4-2) set a new Champions League record: 11 wins in the group stages in a row. This series began in the last group matchday of 2020-21 season (vs Lokomotiv Moscow 2-0) and included all 6 games of the following season.

*Ajax have conceded 12 goals over their last 3 games in all competitions (1-6 vs Napoli, 4-2 vs Volendam, 2-4 vs Napoli); they didn’t conceded so much over a three-game run since November 1964 (1-3 vs GVAV, 5-0 vs PSV, 4-9 vs Feyenoord).

*Napoli have equaled the record for goals (17) scored by a team after 4 matchdays of group stage in the same Champions League edition.
Paris Saint-Germain in the 2017-18 season and Bayern in 2021-22 have scored as many goals at this point of tournament.

*All 4 Spanish teams drew their games at 4th matchday of group stage. The similar happened before twice in the history of Champions league: in 1999-00 (4 draws by 4 German teams in 3rd matchday) and 2009-10 (4 draws by 4 Spanish teams in 4th matchday).

*Liverpool (away win vs Rangers 7-1) equaled the UCL record for most goals (7) scored in away game. This is 7th such case in the history of competition. Liverpool themselves did it already in 2017 (7-0 vs Maribor). Also Bayern achieved this twice (in 2014 vs Roma 7-1, in 2019 vs Tottenham 7-2).
Other such cases are Marseille 7-0 away win over Zilina in 2010, Lyon 7-1 win vs Dinamo Zagreb in 2014, Shakhtar 7-0 vs BATE in 2014.

*Paul Wanner became Bayern's youngest player (16 years 293 days) in the Champions League history.

*The thriller Barcelona – Inter (3-3) at Nou Camp was attended by 92 302 spectators. This is the highest attendance in a Champions League group stage match since 19 October 2016 (Barcelona vs Manchester City, the same stadium, 96 290 spectators).

*Diogo Costa (Porto) became the 2nd goalkeeper in UCL history to save a penalty in 2 different games against the same rival (Bayer) and in the same season. The first was Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester) against Sevilla in 2016-17.

*Diogo Costa became also vs Bayer (3-0) the first player in the whole Champions League history to make an assist and to stop a penalty in the same match.
The previous goalkeepers which assisted for a goal in UCL were: Ulreich (Bayern, vs Celtic, 2017), Ederson (Manchester City, vs Schalke, 2019) and Neuer (Bayern, vs Benfica, 2021).
