IFFHS EURO STATISTICS 20 - THE BEST ONE MATCH GOAL SCORERS

Picture : Marco Van Basten was crowned as THE WORLD'S BEST PLAYER in 1988 and 1989 by IFFHS.

Best one-match goal-scorers (including qualification)

In the history of European championships, including qualifying and final tournaments, there are 19 cases when a player scored 4 goals in a game, and 3 cases when a player scored 5.

Authors of “penta-tricks” are Malcolm Macdonald (1975) (picture up), Tibor Nyilasi (1975) (picture down) and Marco van Basten (1990).

Another “penta-trick” made by the Dutchman John Bosman in the qualifying match of Euro 1988 vs Cyprus (8:0) is not taken into account. This match was canceled, and the goal-scorer’s achievement, too, unfortunately.
Artem Dzyuba (Russia) is the only player so far to score 4 goals twice.
Two Spaniards Hipolito Rincon and Santillana made a “poker” in the same match (vs Malta, 1983).
Rincon scored all 4 his goals in one half-time (second). Later, the same made Robert Lewandowski (2014, vs Gibraltar).
