The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) was founded in March 1984 in Leipzig, Germany, and is today registered in Zurich, Switzerland. More than 211 countries all over the world, from all football continents are represented in the IFFHS.

The course of IFFHS statutory object fulfills the requests of FIFE-regulations. For the time being IFFHS’s activities are corresponding to the endeavor and instructions of FIFA, to present statistically the worldwide football.


The IFFHS has as its main objective the chronological documentation of world football results, data and football related information on FIFA and confederation tournaments, international and national games, teams, leagues, federations, players and referees.

The IFFHS organize through its members experts federations all over the world-wide voting and statistical data, to determine each year rankings of teams leagues players, referees and promote and establish special events and awards recognized in the world of football.

FOUNDATION:

The “International Federation of Football History Statistics” (IFFHS) has been founded on March, 27th 1984 in Leipzig and registered in Denmark progress of the statutory purpose of the IFFHS. Which is elected in correspondence with the always valid FIFA statutes.

STRUCTURE:

The highest body of the IFFHS is the Executive Committee consisting of maximum 20 persons, Including the president and two vice-presidents. Members of the Executive Committee should be, if possible, of different nationality. All other persons have a uniform status as IFFHS member. Each FIFA member should be represented by minimum one expert, however, more important soccer countries by maximum four experts. Countries in which national association for soccer history and/or for soccer statistics already exist, can be represented at IFFHS by that organization, only in case required expert knowledge is available.

FIFA/IFFHS:

The activities of IFFHS are in accord with the efforts and guidelines of FIFA for the statistical reproduction of the world soccer.

IFFHS makes every effort a regular, informal, special exchange of information to the mentioned above purpose. With that general and specific aspects should be covered and a conformity of all contents, which for both sides should be achieves as well.

FOUNDED IN 1984

When the International Federation of Football History and statistics established in 1984 by Dr. Alfredo Poge IFFHS initially had ten awards categories and later added to it the three following award categories: The World’s Best Referee, The World’s Top Goal Scorer and The World’s Best National Coach for the annual celebration and awards.

  • 1987-> Since 1987, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) honored the World’s Best Referee.
  • 1991-> Since 1991, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) honored the World’s Top Goal scorer.
  • 1996-> Since 1996, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) honored the World’s Best National Coach.
  • Present-> IFFHS is changing the way it works by adopting the latest technology and working on some big plans, such as a giant social networking platform of the soccer family.

OBJECTIVES

  1. The IFFHS will have as its main objective the chronological documentation of world football results, data and football-related information. For example, on tournaments (specially the FIFA World Cup) international and national games, national teams, clubs, national leagues, national federations, players, coaches, referees, fans, etc.…
  2. The IFFHS will evaluate, establish, collect, maintain and securely store football related data in compliance with all applicable data protection and other laws.
  3. The IFFHS will organize through its members, local federations all over the world, experts, and specialized professional football players members of the football clubs in the world and the IFFHS book members, world-wide voting to determine rankings of teams’ players national leagues, referees etc.... It will also promote and establish special events and awards or acknowledgments of people recognized in the world of football.
  4. The IFFHS will cooperate with FIFA in all matters related to the IFFHS-Objectives. IFFHS shall abide by FIFA’s rules and guidelines regarding world football. It may also subscribe to become a member of and co-operate with any other organization with similar objectives.
  5. The IFFHS will promote the advancement and growth of football it will discourage practices or activities likely to be detrimental to football and sports in general.
  6. The IFFHS will establish a professional solution by using Point System to determine the ranking of: a) Teams
    b) Players
    c) National and international teams
    d) National leagues
    e) Coaches
    f) Referees
    g) Fans, etc…
    to determine popularity of each.
  7. The iffhs will provide and give a special historical award to the football legend able to fulfill the criteria of the IFFHS.
  8. The IFFHS will cooperate with the local football federations to establish and integrate a historical and statistical department to be one of their main sources for football data.
  9. The IFFHS will cooperate with the historical and statistical organizations worldwide.
